A university ranking is a list of universities that takes into account various indicators. It helps prospective students to select the best school for them. These rankings are conducted by organizations like QS, Times Higher Education, CUAA and India Today among others. They take into account a number of criteria such as academic reputation, research output and graduation rates. These rankings also provide information on the faculty size, SAT/GPA of incoming freshmen and other factors that might be important to a student.
Each indicator was given a weight, which reflected its importance to the overall rankings. This was then rescaled so that a zero was the lowest score possible. Then the scores were sorted to create a pool of 2,346 universities. Each of these was then ranked in descending order by its rescaled overall global score. Ties were allowed.
