Graduation day marks a significant milestone in one’s life. It’s a time to celebrate with friends and family, reflect on the journey, and wish each other luck for the future.
Many schools have a ceremony in which graduates walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, often with their hands raised. The school will usually have a few speakers, including a representative from the university and the valedictorian (the highest ranking academic student in the class).
At graduation parties or other celebratory events, it’s important to keep in mind that this is an emotional and sometimes tearful moment for your graduate. Whether you plan a big, elaborate party or a more intimate gathering with just close friends and family, it’s vital to make sure your graduate feels celebrated, loved, and cherished.
If you are planning a large event, it is a good idea to ask your graduate what their expectations are. If they want a lot of people and lots of food, that’s fine; just make sure their feelings are taken into consideration.
Make sure all of your graduate’s friends and family members are invited to the celebration, even if they can’t attend graduation. This might mean limiting the number of guests for some family members, but most people will understand and possibly volunteer their tickets so someone else can go. It’s also a good idea to let anyone who can’t attend know they will be invited to the graduation party and share photos and videos from the event so they feel included.
